◎ What is the Certificate in EU Studies?
If you are an undergraduate or a graduate student at one of the three member universities of the EUIJ-Kansai, you may receive an Undergraduate / Graduate Certificate in European Union Studies from the EUIJ-Kansai by completing several requirements. In addition to a bachelor's or master's degree granted by a home university, this certificate is granted by the EUIJ-Kansai to undergraduate or graduate students who have demonstrated desired achievements on EU studies.

Similar Programmes in Japan that receive financial support from the European Commission are the Certificate of EU Studies, which is offered by the EU Institute in Japan – Tokyo Consortium (Hitotsubashi University, International Christian University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Tsuda College) established in April 2004, the EU Studies Institute in Tokyo (Hitotsubashi University, Keio University and Tsuda College) and the EU Institute in Japan at Waseda (Waseda University), which were established in April 2009. Overseas, several universities in Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the USA have established EU Centres with support from the European Commission, where EU study courses are offered.

The Certificate in European Union Studies granted by the EUIJ-Kansai is the largest programme in EU studies in Japan, and compares to the largest of its kind outside Japan. Of course, obtaining the Certificate does not give you any qualification automatically. That said, studying the law, politics and economics of Europe in the EU studies certificate curriculum authorised by the European Commission will create a firm basis for your future careers in the international arena. In addition, students who have registered for this certificate programme are given access to a variety of opportunities that are not available otherwise.
